The Chance Academy camp follows the same mission and policies of the associated Chance Academy school. The mission of Chance Academy is to be an educational community that serves as a center for learning for students and their families and fosters environmental stewardship, wellness, peace-building, cultural literacy, and community and belonging.
We welcome children, families and staff of any race, color, gender, affectional orientation, and national or ethnic origin. We promote a peaceful culture for staff, children, and families and focus on positive discipline. Our expectations for each child are age appropriate, keeping in mind that we strive to help each child understand that their actions and words cause reactions from others. To that end, teachers encourage children to use self-management techniques such as breathing, mindfulness, and / or taking a break in a designated peace space.
The confirmed use of malicious verbal, physical, sexual, and / or violent behavior that threatens the safety of any member of the community is grounds for automatic and immediate expulsion. When such a case arises, children’s parents or guardians will be notified immediately, and, as appropriate and with accordance to mandatory reporting procedures, other proper authorities.
A 75% refund minus the $50 registration fee will be issued if a request is received via email by 4 p.m. ET on Monday, June 10, 2024. Cancellations received after this date and time are not eligible for a refund. Chance Academy does not prorate for any absence from camp including illness or changes due to work or vacation schedules. Upon request by a parent or guardian, we may allow a camper to switch to a different camp session in an alternate week, depending on availability and at our own discretion.
Chance Academy reserves the right to cancel a camp at its discretion for any reason, including but not limited to COVID-19 or insufficient enrollment. We will do our best to provide registered families with as much notice as possible of any such cancellation. If a program is canceled, families will be notified, and a full refund will be provided.
