Stephanie Welch is the newest member of Chance Academy, having joined the team in November 2024 as a math teacher.
A world traveler and adventure seeker, Stephanie’s most recent exploit was climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2021, and, having visited Rome in the past, she has plans to revisit it some time in 2025.
Stephanie has been a teacher since 2018, having worked both in public schools and charter schools. She also has experience working in the juvenile justice system. Stephanie firmly believes that her primary role as an educator is to enable students to learn to think critically.
Currently, Stephanie is a doctoral student and her dissertation topic is how to scale micro schools while preserving their unique attributes.
Stephanie has many previous accomplishments. She earned her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame and was in the 4th class of women at The United States Military Academy at West Point.
Before becoming a teacher, Stephanie spent over 20 years in corporate America in various roles including working in banking, insurance, and consulting.
Stephanie is extremely excited to be a part of Chance Academy. “Chance is a unique place. The opportunity to participate in ensuring that students are life-long learners, with critical thinking skills, and an understanding of the powers that lie inside their amazing minds is, in my opinion, why we do this work. We make space for our students to change the world.”
