Kaori Hall
Position(s): Science and Math
Department(s): Educator
Kaori Hall is the newest teacher to join the Chance Academy team as one of our Science / Math teachers. Having recently moved to Maryland from Gainesville, Florida, Kaori is a new graduate of University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science. They are also a member of the Mycolgical Society of America and the American Society of Microbiology.
Did you want to learn more about mushrooms? Kaori has a research background and expertise in mushrooms – specifically Chanterelles – having led mushroom hikes, lecturing to the Alabama Mushroom Society and the Georgia Mushroom Festival, and advising the Grow Gainesville Gardening Group on Chanterelle identification and collection, and mushroom biology.
In their spare time, Kaori loves to knit wearables and read classic novels, write poetry, and teach themself coding. Kaori’s education philosophy is to cultivate a natural curiosity and scientific literacy in children through awareness of the environment around them. Nature is the best teacher. She is looking forward to exploring different events, people, places, and natural areas in this new place I now call home.
